Welcome to our blog!  This is where we will be posting sneak peaks from spending time with our clients, little goodies we come across to help with planning your wedding or shoot and personal tidbits about our life.

Life is joyful, messy, hilarious, awkward, big and everything in between...and that's what we love. We love to tell the story of your life as it is, because that's what will matter at your 50th wedding anniversary. Weddings aren't about dresses, bow ties, and mason jars...they're about you and your best friend since 4th grade; they're about your dad walking his baby down the isle; they're about grooms crying in public for the first time since elementary school. They're about life...a big life...and that's the good stuff.

Drop by often, sit back with a good cup o' Joe and enjoy!

So, I’ll be the first to admit that during the Fall portion of our wedding season I have straight-up BLINDERS on.  It’s the busiest time of year for us and I’m just focusing on powering through it without having too many melt downs or getting vertigo.  So honestly, I never really SEE the Fall that everyone around here knows, loves, and wants.  Until Bobbie and Jason’s engagement session happened.  We had the most GORGEOUS day in October for their engagement session and quite possibly the prettiest setting in Nebraska that I’ve gotten to see in a long time.  At one point I told them that I felt like I was on vacation.  I was chasing the fall and golden light with them…it was quiet…they were SO easy to work with…and it was the first time that I noticed this “Fall” everyone speaks of.  And it was breathtaking.

Photographing Bobbie and Jason was a breeze.  They are so in love with each other, kind, and incredibly full of life.  I can’t wait for their February wedding.

Bobbie and Jason – thank you SO MUCH for bringing me to see “the Fall”.  You have no idea how badly I needed it.

Edelweiss and Bill had a gorgeous outdoor wedding at sunset at Nebraska City’s Morton Mansion.  I was so excited to hear about their celebration when I met with Edelweiss for the first time.  She moved here from Mexico last May, met Bill, got engaged in February, and was having all of her family and dearest friends come all the way to Nebraska for their wedding.  When I asked her why they chose the mansion in Nebraska City she told me that she has fallen in love with the Nebraska sunsets, and if her friends and family were going to come all the way to Nebraska from Mexico, she wanted them to be in the most beautiful place in Nebraska for sunset.  I would consider it a success.  Even if the Nebraska City high school football teams “jock jams” warm up music was playing across the street for the entirety of their ceremony.  (I couldn’t help laughing as “so light ‘em up, up, up…light ‘em up, up, up I’M ON FIRE” played as she walked down the aisle).

Her family folded HUNDREDS of beautiful red wedding cranes; she walked down to the sweetest version of Edelweiss; they were draped in lace from her parents wedding; there was German chocolate cake from Gerda’s German Bakery in Omaha to celebrate her dad being German; BEAUTIFUL flowers from Blooms and Bouquets…all of it was simply gorgeous, romantic, and incredibly personal.

Edelweiss and Bill, congratulations!

It his hilariously magical when your client arrives to an engagement session galloping on a horse through a tunnel of trees.

I had so much fun with Amy, Zach, Tina, and Kona at Two Rivers State Park last weekend!  We had it all…horses, a beach, fall leaves…everything about it was a dream.  Amy had to pull a bunch of cockabur stickers out of my bare feet…and I dodged horse poop like it was my job.  Needless to say, this session was a bonding experience for us all.  :)

Spring and Kendra waited a long time for this special day.  Spring’s stepmom had every little detail planned for them to make a gorgeous Vermont wedding on March 26th, 2016.  Sadly, as we come to learn every day, life changes and it changes quickly.  Spring’s stepmom passed away a week before their wedding date and the only thing that felt right was to postpone the wedding.

They re-planned the wedding to be held in Omaha and flew in all the details and decorations her stepmom had intended for March 26th.  Cake fountains, blue lilies, toasting glasses and a unity candle…all beautiful reminders that she was still there with them.  When Spring and Kendra shared their story with me, there was no way I could miss shooting their wedding and being a part of it- they were stuck with me!

My favorite moments of the day:
- The two of them getting dolled up together that morning with their families.
- The ride together to the venue when the sun peeked from behind the clouds.  It had been cloudy all day, and when that sun peaked out, they knew Spring’s stepmom was shining down on them.
- Kendra’s dad looking at her so lovingly and telling her how happy he was for the happiness she now had in her life.

It was a day FULL of love and I was honored to be a part of it.

- Janine

Sarah and Cody sent me a fantastic inquiry for engagement photos a few weeks ago.  When they first started dating they frequented playgrounds and got engaged at the bottom of a slide.  So naturally, we met early in the morning, went to a park and played.

These two are SO easy to photograph.  They didn’t even need a buffer time to get warmed up.  They are smitten with each other and naturally play and love with ease.  They outwardly beam with joy and it’s without a doubt that they’ll be happy and playful for the rest of their lives.

Sarah and Cody – congratulations!
